Since 2025, the global civil aircraft maintenance industry has entered a dual period of post-pandemic recovery and industrial transformation, with a steady expansion of the market scale. Digitalization, greenification, and localization have become the core development themes. According to the "2025 Aviation Maintenance Industry Panorama Report", the global aviation maintenance market is expected to exceed $110 billion this year, representing a year-on-year growth of 6.5%. The Chinese market, with an average annual compound growth rate of 9.7%, leads the world, with its scale reaching $34 billion (approximately RMB 250 billion), becoming the core engine of global industry growth.

Globally, the continuous rebound in passenger demand and the intensifying aging of aircraft fleets have become the dual rigid supports for industry growth. Data shows that global air passenger traffic in 2025 will be 4.2 percentage points higher than the pre-pandemic level in 2019. Meanwhile, the proportion of commercial aircraft in service worldwide that are over 12 years old has reached 41%. These aircraft are gradually entering high-frequency, high-cost scheduled maintenance and overhaul cycles, providing a stable demand for the maintenance market. In terms of regional patterns, the Asia-Pacific region, with a 38% share of the global aircraft fleet, has become the market with the greatest growth potential. In 2025, the newly added maintenance hangar capacity will account for 58% of the global total, with China and Southeast Asia becoming the core of regional growth.

The growth momentum of the Chinese market is even stronger, primarily driven by three major factors: fleet expansion, policy dividends, and the mass production of domestically produced large aircraft. By the end of 2023, the size of China's civil aviation transport fleet had exceeded 4,300 aircraft, with a plan to add more than 300 aircraft annually over the next five years. Meanwhile, 35% of the active aircraft are over six years old and have entered a high-frequency maintenance cycle. At the policy level, the "14th Five-Year Plan" for civil aviation development clearly supports the transformation of the aviation maintenance industry towards intelligence and greenification. After the implementation of the new version of the "Certification Rules for Civil Aircraft Maintenance Organizations," the efficiency of qualification approval has increased by 30%, and restrictions on private capital access have been further relaxed.

It is noteworthy that the mass production of the C919 domestically produced large aircraft has opened up incremental space for local maintenance enterprises. It is expected that after 2025, an average of 50 C919 aircraft will be delivered annually, and the localization rate of its supporting maintenance system needs to increase from 40% during the test flight phase to 85% by 2030, which will stimulate the emergence of a domestic aviation material supply chain market worth over 20 billion yuan. Currently, the three major urban agglomerations of the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei account for 65% of the domestic maintenance market share. Local enterprises have already achieved a 22% market share in the engine maintenance field, and it is expected to exceed 35% by 2030, gradually realizing domestic substitution in high-end fields. Industry experts say that 2025 will be a crucial year for the structural transformation of China's civil aviation maintenance industry. Grasping the opportunities of technological innovation and domestic adaptation will drive the industry to achieve high-quality development.
